Professional Experience

An experienced non-profit professional with strong interpersonal, proofreading and writing skills. Working with UK and Vietnam-based charities, I have successfully produced fundraising and communications copywriting. With a recent qualification in proofreading, and a LLM in human rights law, I am seeking to utilise my knowledge of the sector to provide proofreading and writing services to support these activities.

Strong writing, proofreading and editing skills utilised to create fundraising bids, newsletters, PR releases, scripts and handbooks on new legislation. Worked collaboratively with the charity's director to accurately capture projects' impact across a wide range of issues, including reducing plastic waste pollution, promoting gender equality, legal timber trade and chemical waste management in factories in Vietnam. Successfully secured funding for the charity with PepsiCo for a three-year project on plastic waste management.

Started as an intern with Octavia and became a team lead,  guiding the befriending team to achieve and surpass our targets for the 2021-2022 and 2022-2023 financial years. Created bespoke befriending relationships between volunteers and service users; innovated our tracking systems to better support the fundraising team; designed and distributed a 'Good News Newsletter' throughout the pandemic; and collated a database used internally and externally to provide resources for support. Worked closely with the volunteering team and volunteers to improve our 'matching' system, organising events where we could meet volunteers and provided the communication work for this.

Developed a comprehensive understanding of the asylum-seeking process in the UK, and the support available for refugees. Worked as a team to effectively signpost and support refugee service users. Efficiently worked to complete administrative tasks to assist the team.

Supported the planning and promotion of the charity's swing dance event for South Africa Youth Day. Responsible for external communications for the event: corresponding with organisations for promotion purposes. Developed my writing skills by producing information to be displayed on public forums and social media.
